Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) is a control system architecture comprising computers, networked data communications and graphical user displays.
The primary function of the SCADA system is to make available unmanned operation for geographically dispersed deep tube wells from SCADA station located in Mods zone office (“Local SCADA”). The Local SCADA system in each zone shall have operational interface to support remote operation of the deep tube wells assigned to the particular Mods zone. The Local SCADA shall provide the capability to acquire from deep tube wells data of operating condition, show abnormal or alarm conditions, remotely operate the pump, provide real-time monitoring and control of deep tube wells. This specification defines the basic requirements of SCADA software that will be installed at MODS Zone office to perform the aforesaid functions on the deep tube wells (“DTW”) corresponding Mods zone offices.
A PLC is a piece of physical hardware. SCADA, on the other hand, is software. To this end, a PLC is physical. You can hold a PLC and feel it what’s inside the enclosure box.
As software, SCADA operates on a computer system and can be compared to an operating system like Linux or Windows
A distributed control system (DCS) is a computerized control system for a process, in which autonomous controllers are distributed throughout the system, but there is no central operator supervisory control.
